The centre of the flag is made up of the original badge of the Brooklands Aero Club pre 1939.
"Experientia Docet" was also the motto of the aero club. The Air League albatross is evident as are the dark blue and light blue of the ADCC.
Topping the pole is a chrome albatross, the whole id is double sided and is quite heavy.
The standard is different to most ADCC standards in that the background is totally light blue.
Most were made with
the top diagonal light blue and the bottom dark blue. I have
checked and it is certainly the
oldest still in existance, and could be the first ever presented.
This photo is of the
2nd annual prize giving parade of the squadron on Sept 1st 1940.
The flag flying if the official ADCC standard top part light blue
bottom dark.
The band is in an entirely different uniform and that too was the
first in the ADCC.
You will see everyone is carrying their gas mask boxes.
Of interest if you can see in the background is the Brooklands
Byfleet banking.
There are trees growing out of the concrete.
Trees were planted in holes in the race track to try and
camoflage it, - didnt help as
they were bombed 10 days after this photo.
